Hi guys!
I love reading these posts and hadn’t done one since Camryn was born. So, here’s a day in our life {weekend edition}. This is from last Saturday!
2 am – Camryn stirs a little so I get up and feed her. We’re back down by 2:30.
6am – Camryn wakes up. She is usually up between 6 and 7, depending on if/how many times she’s been up throughout the night. We have nights where she sleeps through the night, and some nights she wakes up 1-2 times. It’s still kind of unpredictable!
I change her, make coffee and make breakfast. I’ve realized that she doesn’t love to eat right away (so unlike me – I wake up starving!). The mornings are actually my favorite time with her. She’s so bubbly and loves to “chat” while I drink my coffee. This usually consists of me making faces with her and copying her oo’s and aa’s sounds. She loves it. I also give her some time with her new piano mat. Tater also finds this fascinating.
6:45-7am – Feed her.
7 am – Take her and Tater for a walk. Now that it’s so hot here, I have to go either really early or much later in the day to avoid the hot sun.
7:45 – Wake Ed up since he’s on baby duty for the morning as I have an event to get to. I make a smoothie (breakfast #2) for the road because I stop and go for a quick run before the event. Need that post run fuel! I add Ripple pea protein milk (I’ve been drinking this since starting to limit dairy – I prefer this over almond/coconut milk because it has protein), frozen bananas, frozen mango chunks, frozen cauliflower, a scoop of chocolate PB2 and this protein powder). I’m in the market for a new powder that doesn’t have whey protein. Usually, I am all about whey but since limiting this dairy stuff for Cam, I’m going to try a new one. I’m thinking about trying this Orgain, plant based. Anyone had it before?
8:00- 8:20 – Quick run at a local greenway. I love how shaded it is!
9:00- 12:00 – Hang out at a local health and fitness event that I’m working. I was on hand to talk about sports nutrition, and there were also free yoga and crossfit classes going on.
12:15 – Get home, feed Cam and make myself lunch. I heat up some leftovers of quinoa, eggplant, asparagus and a mushroom veggie burger. I added some hummus and pasta sauce too.
1:00 – 4:00 – I shower, do some cleaning/housework and try to put Cam down for a nap. She ends up only sleeping for 20 minutes, so instead of writing an article, we cuddle on the couch, do tummy time, and watch tv. Eventually, we both take a catnap on the couch.
6:30 – I leave for a press event. Sabor is opening a new location here in north Charlotte, so I go to the tasting and help promote the event. I’m so excited about this location because though there are a few closer to the city, this one is closer to us and I’m sure it will be a go-to for Taco Tuesday.
I got my favorite yuca fries and mexican street corn on a stick. I also got a side arepa.
8:15pm – Home to feed Camryn one more time before putting her down to bed. I enjoy a glass of wine with Ed before turning in ourselves. Bedtime is a lot earlier these days as I anticipate the early wake ups, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Do you have a local restaurant that you frequent often or love?
What does your bedtime routine look like?
How did I never read your blog before? Loved reading about your day! The greenway where you run looks so inviting. I remember the days of putting the kids to bed early and sitting with hubby for just a short time until we couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer. Now I have grandkids. How did that happen?
I use protein powder from The Natural Citizen. It is completely natural and free of any additional ingredients. I discovered it recently and am hooked. https://www.thenaturalcitizen.com
Thanks for that link to Natural Citizen! I had never heard of them. Just ordered a package of their protein.
They also have a lot of coupon codes online. If you order in the future again I use a code from MaryEllen at Milk and Honey Nutrition. The code is MILKANDHONEY and it is for 15% off Hope you enjoy it.
Orgain upsets my stomach too! I use Vega or sunwarrior.
Do you have to pump when you’re away from Cam during that long of time?
I did pump once during the fitness event, since I was gone for a few hours. Otherwise I try to keep my outings short and feed her right before I leave and right when I get home.
Vega, all the way. I use both the all-in-one and the Vega sport types.
Vega sport was my go to during marathon training.
I am allergic to dairy and I like Jarrow rice protein powder. I tried Orgain and it’s super tasty but it has what seems like a lot of erythritol in it and that tends to upset my stomach. Vega protein and greens is good too but it’s kinda pricey.
I’ve never heard of jarrow rice, may check that out!
The street corn looks delicious! Now that it’s summer and corn will soon be in season, I’m all about corn on the cob.
When I was living at Rutgers, there was an awesome Mexican place within walking distance of my apartment. It really is the best and now there’s a location in Princeton which is so much closer so I”ll be hitting that up way more.
Corn on the cob screams summer, doesn’t it?
I call this, getting it all in!! You’re doing it! I can see you shifting to getting back to a balance of your old “you” and your new “you. I hope you new is staying caffeinated 😉
Thanks Cora! It’s a little easier when Ed is here and agrees to watch the baby ?
As someone with serious whey sensitivity, I swear by Vega. So darn good
Vega is my first choice usually, too. Glad you like it!
I can’t use it often because stevia bothers my stomach, but for my occasional smoothies I like Vega too.
