Happy Friday – we made it! We’re here in Indianapolis for a wedding tonight. Both Ed and I have family here, so it’s been nice to spend some time with everyone. I’ll have some more pictures to share and a recap next week.

Whole Foods Presentation

I did a presentation about local foods and in-season foods this week at the local Whole Foods. It was so much fun and had a good turn out! I hope to start doing these more regularly.

New Host

I switched hosts a month or so ago and it has made a big difference in my site speed. My previous host didn’t have the best customer service and couldn’t handle all my data efficiently. I’ve been SO happy with Siteground, so if you’re in the market for switching to a new host, I definitely recommend them. You can use my affiliate link for a nice little discount.

Peanut Ambassador Kit

As some of you guys may remember, I’m allergic to tree nuts, so peanuts are really the only nut I can eat. So, I’m all in with peanuts and tree nut free trail mixes and granola. I recently became a peanut ambassador and this most recent kit couldn’t have come at a better time. Plus, I’m obsessed with this tank top!

Dinner and Ice Cream Dates

Last weekend, I got to meet up with my dear friend, Alyssa, from Charlotte Food Bloggers. She’s moving to Ohio soon and I’m really sad about it. But, it was nice to have a ladies night out at Workman’s Friend, a newish Irish pub restaurant I’ve been dying to check out.

Followed by ice cream at Two Scoops. Glad to have friends who share my love for sweets! Some of you stressed anxiety over having this fall – don’t worry, I ate it right after this picture and got every last bit!

Good Reads:

How does real food compare to fortification? Basically, eating foods has more than just essential vitamins and nutrients – there is also fiber and phytonutrients that fortification doesn’t normally provide. And by eating whole foods, you’re getting the package of nutrients in entirety, which is another major plus.  Also, we may absorb less of vitamins and minerals when taken in supplementation form due to competing elements and the forms not being as bioavailable (absorbed as easily). Lots of food for thought!

Another con of food waste = thinking about all the nutrients you’re losing too! From the article, “Food wasted at the retail and consumer levels of the U.S. food supply in 2012 contained 1,217 kcal, 33 g protein, 5.9 g dietary fiber, 1.7 mcg vitamin D, 286 mg calcium, and 880 mg potassium per capita per day.”  WOW. That’s nearly 25% of our daily fiber needs.

Satisfaction vs. Fullness – This is something I talk with all clients about – so important to distinguish!

  1. Omigosh I NEED that tank top lol – I would be nothing without nut butter! Congrats on becoming a peanut ambassador – that sounds so exciting! How do you become an ambassador for different things?

    1. Power to the nut butter! For most companies, you can reach out and ask if they have an ambassador program. It’s a new-ish thing, so if there are products you are passionate about, it’s worth reaching out!

  2. Looks like a week of lots of good food and fun! My highlights would be running with the top boys of my cross country team and showing them a girl can hang too 😉 and taking my friend to her first yoga class then going out to a delicious dinner together afterwards.
