Friday Favorites #36

  Jun 8, 2018  |  #Favorites

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Since I don’t have a routine or normal schedule yet, it’s rare that I wake up knowing what day it is. Nonetheless, this week flew by, as I tried to schedule at least “one thing” every day!

On Monday, I had a walking date with a friend. Ed’s birthday was on Tuesday so we met up with some friends to celebrate that. Wednesday I had an appointment with a lactation consultant, Thursday I dropped Cam off at the Y childcare for the first time, and today I’m heading downtown Charlotte for an event. My goal of doing “one thing” per day is working out well!

Here are some of my favorite things recently:

On the food front…

Bear Naked Granola

I have been wanting to make my own granola because it’s SO easy, but just haven’t gotten around to it. But, I am using this to make my own trail mix (adding seeds and some cereal and peanuts). I’ve been really enjoying this Bear Naked granola – it’s my first time buying it! Do you have a favorite granola brand?

Shake Shack!!

This is new to Charlotte and we finally got down there. The fries are delicious and the concrete (aka milkshake things) are SO GOOD. They remind me of a blizzard.

Furthest Run Yet

With some walking too.

Friday favorites Storytime

I know this picture quality is really low, but isn’t it so cute how Camryn is into the stories? Loving this phase and I know it will get better.

Camryn also really loves her carseat. Whenever we put her in the car, she falls asleep. I guess that’s a good thing! Feeling lucky about that.

Park Views

We have a beautiful local park near us where I met a friend for a walking date. This was actually where we did our maternity photos too!

We have a wedding tomorrow that we have a little bit of a drive to get to. We’re taking Camryn (her first wedding and wedding outfit!) and hoping it will be a low key night!

Do you have a favorite granola brand?

  1. Happy Birthday, Ed!!

I went to a YMCA volunteer orientation meeting this week – they really do such great things, especially for childcare and mothers, as I learned. I hope this is something you’ll be able to take benefit in and enjoy!

I suck at making granola. I need to rectify that. My dream granola though is basically any of the recipes by Meg and cleaneatsfastfeets or Juli at 1000lovelythings. Drool is an understatement. Enjoy the wedding!

  2. Shake Shack is my absolute favorite! I’m going there this Sunday with my family since my brother’s visiting and I’m so excited because I’ve been craving it all week. It really hold a special place in my heart also because the second time I went there, I really noticed how much I grew in letting go of worries about food. I got a burger, fries, and a shake worry free and it was deeee-lish!

  3. That concrete!! <3 Hooray for being able to run (if it feels good now)! Some moms I know drop their kids off at the YMCA childcare and head outside to run, which I think is brilliant!

  4. My favorite granola is definitely Purely Elizabeth! I’m obsessed with it, and you can’t go wrong with any flavor! I also love a brand called healing home foods which seems to be a small local brand where I live but that’s another amazing granola and the only two kinds I eat!

    1. I’ve heard so many good things about them! Do they have some flavors with nuts? (Peanuts and almonds are ok).

      1. Yes, they have one with walnuts that wouldn’t be good for you. They don’t have so much of actual nut chunks in them though, which I personally like. They do have sunflower and pumpkin seeds in there! There’s a peanut butter chocolate flavor and a maple almond butter which are amazing! I’d have to say my favorites are the original, pumpkin spice, or maple almond butter! But you really can’t go wrong!

  5. The Shake Shack concretes are so good! Honestly though, when is ice cream mixed with a candy never good?

I forget the exact brand but one time I impulse bought some peanut butter and chocolate granola that was tasty but I went through the bag so fast. I want to say it was Nature Valley brand but I could be wrong. Julie at PBFingers has a really good peanut butter granola that I’ve made a few times!

    Enjoy the wedding!

  6. How was dropping Camryn off at the Y daycare? I am planning on joining the Y in the Ballantyne area here in Charlotte just so I can go work out and have that childcare! Did you take her right after you fed her?

    1. Yes, I fed her and then we went! You have 2 hours to work out. The daycare seemed very well organized and everyone was helpful. Cam slept most of the time anyway 🙂 They also have “Mother’s Morning Out” where you can drop your kids off for either a 2 or 4 hour time block if you need to go to appointments, do work, etc!
