Friday Favorites #21

Happy Friday, we made it!

I hope you all had a great week. It seems like it was just Monday over here, so I guess a quick one is a good one for us. It seems like I haven’t done a Friday Favorites since early July – woooof. Sorry about that, ya’ll. Summer feels, ya feel me?

Anyhoo, Do you have any plans for the long weekend? We’ll be out of town next weekend, so we’re sticking around here this weekend. We may try to get out on the lake and do something outside. I’m loving the weather right now. And of course, eat lots of good food that I’ll show you guys next week.

In writing this, I’m realizing it was really a pretty uneventful week. It also feels weird to write about my week highlights when the people in Houston with Hurricane Harvey have suffered so much. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to them.

One thing that happened this week was Tater knocked my Intuitive Eating book into the bathtub. lol. So, thanks Amazon Prime, I ordered a new one and got it the next day. Has this happened to anyone else before?

We also enjoyed some long neighborhood walks this week. It’s my favorite way to wind down before making dinner, and the weather has been beautiful.

Expect to see this one comin’ at ya next week. I’ll give ya a hint – it’s a quick bread with a secret ingredient.

Friday Favorites

On Thursday, I was invited to attend a lunch meeting with other Charlotte influencers to taste Amelie’s Bakery new fall inspired menu! So many yummy goodies. We had 8 courses, although I had to skip out on some that had nuts. We did 8 courses, modeled after what they do in France.

The courses include:

orange clove mimosa, sweet potato pecan petit four, roasted root vegetable + gouda tartine, tomato crab bisque, ham + gruyere bouchee, tomato and pesto danish, with a white truffle and thyme bean salad, dried apricot, pumpkin and goat cheese salad, spiced cherry, almond toffee, and pumpkin praline pecan macarons (sad I couldn’t have the latter two), almond toffee with a smoke sea salt cafe creme coffee

I updated my services tab on my blog! I offer virtual counseling, but I’ve been wanting to give my services page an update for a long time. So, for those of you who have asked if I have virtual clients, YES, I can work with you!

Since I don’t have too much else to share about the week, I’ve included a list of some good reads and recipes I’ve marked to read and save for later. Hope you enjoy!

  1. I haven’t had a book fall into the bath tub – but last year when we were in New Zealand it rained for two weeks straight and I had put my umbrella into my handbag for some reason – forgetting that I had put my passport in there (as they wouldn’t accept international IDs and we kept having to show our passport for things) and it got totally soaked.

Jesse spent three hours drying it out with a hair dryer whilst I freaked out thinking I wouldn’t be able to get back into Australia or leave New Zealand with a soggy passport

  2. At least it was the bathtub and not the toilet! :D…?

I hope you have a great weekend! I’m going to be spending mine studying (sigh), so I gotta live vicariously through people doing more exciting things than that! 😛 That bread looks super good!

I wish there was an active blogger network that I knew of in NJ! That food looks amazing! *-*

  3. Hi Sarah! I’ve never made a quick bread, but now I’m intrigued! I look forward to what you’re going to share. As far as the tasting event — UMMM yes! All looks delish! Enjoy your weekend at home, lady! 🙂 Nothing much on the agenda for me either!

    1. I love my quick breads – I love using them for snacks and toppings on yogurt and oatmeal. Hope you had a relaxing weekend, Ashley!

  4. Your quick breads are always amazing. I can’t wait for this one!! I’m so loving the pre/post dinner walks right now too. The weather is so perfect and it both relaxed and energizes me.

  5. Oh my gosh that 8-course meal sounds amazing!! It’s so incredible to me that each one is so unique and creative. This weekend I have a long run with my team Saturday morning and then I’m hoping to sleeeeeep on Sunday because we just had a full week of 5:45 am practices and I’m so ready to not wake up before the sunrises haha. Monday is my last day of summer break and my team is having a pool party after practice so that should be fun. Hope your weekend is awesome too 🙂 !

  6. Ok that’s so cool that you are going to start seeing virtual clients!

And that has definitely happened to me, books in water or I think I dropped one in the bathtub once (but it might have been a library book O_O).

  7. OK that coffee from Amelie’s looks amazing! I never think to eat their for breakfast or lunch – I just think sweets. Def going to have to try some of their other food items
