If We Were Having Coffee…July 2016

Hi, happy friday! Thank you for all of your comments and feedback on yesterday’s post. I loved reading all of the comments. So much love for you guys.

If we were having coffee..

I’m going with Starbucks today. Not by choice, really. It’s what is here in the airport. I was trying to rebel since they raised their prices..

If we were having coffee..

I’d tell you that I’m so excited to have a little vk. It’s currently Thursday and I’m sitting in the DFW airport writing this post (we have a loooooong layover). We will get to VANCOUVER tonight, and then we have a bunch of day trips, hikes, brunches and happy hours planned.

We are here celebrating our first wedding anniversary, which is August 15th. I can’t believe this day was one year ago!

Sarah and Ed Wed

Vancouver has always been on my bucket list, as a place where you have BOTH the oceans and mountains in one place. Usually I have to choose one or the other, so I am so excited to have both. Plus, I fell in love with Portland last fall, so I already know I love this little pacific northwest corner. I’ll have some fun recaps coming after our trip.

If we were having coffee..

Would you call me crazy for this itinerary outline I’ve made? I’m trying to plan our meals based on the neighborhood we will be in by the day. I know this will change 78394612 times, but it’s a start. Also, I have a 4 page list of restaurants, cafe’s and bars I want to explore. Sorry in advance for all the food pictures I’ll be posting on Instagram. There will be pretty scenic ones too 😉

If we were having coffee..

I’d nudge you and tell you how full I am right now. We landed around 11, and headed right towards the food. We ate lunch at a little Irish bar, and I got the Irish breakfast special. It was just okay – nothing out of this world and it was pretty greasy.

If we were having coffee…

We’d have to discuss running and marathon training. I wish you were training with me. I love running alone, but I could use some motivation and girl chat during the longer runs.

But overall, it’s going okay. I’m thinking about revising my plan a little bit and cutting down my mileage during the week, but Coach Ed keeps telling me to stick with it. This week was 7/8/7, meaning 7 on Tues, 8 on Wed, 7 on Thurs. I will not be running today since we are traveling, but I do hope to get a long walk in to listen to my book on tape.

SPEAKING OF YOU GUYS…I downloaded audible because you get two free books the first month. I don’t know if I’ll cancel after that or keep my subscription but I wanted something to keep my attention during those long runs. I know I’m late to the game on “The Girl on the Train,” but I am LOVING IT. I play it while I’m running, cooking dinner, driving, going for a walk, etc. Who read it?

And in typical Sarah fashion, despite being full 20 minutes ago, now I’m hungry, which is why I brought a bag full of crumbled cookies to munch on while reviewing this itinerary.

If we were having coffee..

I’d tell you that I even got my nails done IN THE AIRPORT. I have never done this before, but when you have a 5 hour layover, carpe diem I suppose.

I do have some planned posts going up next week, so I’ll be touching base periodically, but I’ll be most active on Instagram and on my Facebook Page! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

What would you tell me over coffee?

Did you read Girl on the Train?

  1. That itinerary looks so full yet so fun! That’s the best way to do vacation though! I’ve never read The Girl on the Train but I’m really considering getting audible for my long runs too so maybe I’ll check it out!

  2. Congrats on your one year anniversary!! That’s so exciting! I hope you have such a wonderful trip. I’d love to go to Vancouver. Also, how organized are you babe! I love that your’e planning everything out. Planning does NOT come naturally to me… like at all, lol I’m a totally mess! But I GREATLY admire planners!! So organized and awesome! Happy weekend!
    xoxo Cailee!

  3. That book is on my “must-read” list! Arent they making it in to a movie? I need to read it first! Have so much fun on your trip! I cant wait to see all of the food photos–bring them on!

  4. I love that you have planned all the places you wanna eat. Food is definitely the highlight of going away somewhere.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I hurt my ankle running and now it really hurts to walk and it is bumming me out.

  5. Your wedding picture is GORGEOUS! Happy anniversary- I’ve always wanted to go to Vancouver (mostly for Seawheeze) so I hope you have a blast and take TONS of pictures 🙂

  6. WOW. That itinerary looks full! But if that’s how you like it, I say, ‘Go for it!’ Happy Anniversary Sarah! What a blessing to be celebrating one year of marriage. 🙂 I can’t wait to see all your adventures, foodie, outdoor, and such. 🙂

  7. I love Audible!! I especially loved The Girl on the Train. Another good one is Peter Swanson’s The Kind Worth Killing. I am almost constantly listening to books (this year, I’ve listened to over 40), so I totally recommend it! Have a great trip, sounds like it is off to a great start. And happy anniversary! My husband and I don’t do anniversary gifts (because ours is December 29) just trips and we love it almost 4 years in.

  8. I’ll be stalking your instagram page… FYI. Hope thats okay. Can’t wait to see and live vicariously through you!!
Bahah I just have to laugh because that itinerary makes me SO happy. Lists and organization and planning… girl after my own heart. And 4 pages of restaurant options? You know the important things in life my friend.
There are going to be some beautiful runs for you around Vancouver. Along the harbor and such. Oh my gosh I can see it now. I hope you have the most fabulous time Sarah and can’t wait to hear all about it when you are back <3

  9. I read the Girl On The Train and it was a tad creepy. Sometimes I really wonder what people who are recluse think and do everyday…and this book confirmed the creepy in my mind.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I got over a funk this morning and an feeling like my old self. Have a great vacation! Happy anniversary!

  10. Welcome to BC and Vancouver. I am totally the same with travelling and make very detailed and ambitious itineraries! Haha but I love doing it. Can’t wait to see what you get up to here, looks like you have some great things planned!

I just read Girl on the Train in May, I really liked it. It was a good vacation read!

  11. Great timing with “Girl on the Train” — right before the movie comes out! Can’t wait to see it, with Jim Halpert’s wife playing the main character.. should be awesome.

Have SO much fun on your much deserved vacation!! I can’t wait to see photos! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

  12. I’ve read Girl on the Train! Was instantly hooked as well and read it in 2 days haha. Airport layovers can be tough; my favorite last time is people watching. I like to observe others around me and imagine what there “back stories” are. This game can be especially fun if you have a travel companion, who will imagine the most creative back story? What clues did they use to form the story ?

  13. Was it really expensive to get your nails done in the airport? I have seen that and always wondered, and in my experience they don’t advertise the prices. I hope you have a great trip! And happy anniversary!
