Hi, friends. Happy Friday!
This was a weird week. I was actually up in Rhode Island for a quick trip earlier this week for a funeral. The father of one of my good friends’ passed away. He was someone who came to many of our sporting events growing up, plus he was a high school principal, so it was very sad to see him go. While I went home for unfortunate circumstances, it was good to catch up with friends and family. Isn’t it weird how such events can turn into a mini reunion?
Anyway, let’s try and focus on the positives for the week for this Friday edition. This is just some randomness from the week.
Positive Vibes
While I was home, I also got to catch up with my best girlfriends and meet the newest addition to our clan, baby Ava. She was born in July and I hadn’t met her yet.
I good lots of quality time with Ms. Lucy too, despite how unhappy she looks.
I made my sweet potato turkey burgers for my parents one night (they approved!), and we went out to dinner another night. I ordered salmon, because I’m a sucker for seafood. And then we got ice cream, as you may have seen on Instagram.
Great view’s for my 20 miler.
Followed by an epsom salt bath (affiliate link).
One of my best friends gave us a variety of wine bottles for my bridal shower that we are finally breaking into. They have a variety of occasions, ranging from First Anniversary, to First Dinner Party, First Big Fight, First Big Purchase, etc. Aren’t they the cutest?
We had our housewarming party last Saturday and I took NO PICTURES. Zero. I totally meant to so I could so ya’ll our set up. It was wonderful, and I was just having too much fun. We had lots of great friends there and enjoyed lots of good adult beverages.
I sent this picture to Ed because is it not the cutest!? If you’re in the Charlotte area and know where I can get a golden doodle, please holla.
Lastly, there are some new recipes being tested in the kitchen. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you get to see these exclusive peaks, tips and more! The October newsletter is set to go out on Sunday!

Sorry this post is a little all over the place, guys. I’ll be back next week with some yummy food and normal posts!
What do you have going on this weekend?
Do you follow dog instagram accounts or is that just me? 🙂
I can’t follow dog accounts on Instagram because then I want more dogs than I already want ๐ In an ideal world I’d live on a hugeeeeeeeee property with hundreds of dogs hahaha
I am sorry to hear about your friend’s father ๐ That is always so tough.
I really want to try your sweet potato turkey burgers! They sound amazing. And I love looking at dog instagrams- they are so freakin’ cute!
Thanks, Alyssa. They are so good, especially if you are a burger lover! The sweet potato adds a nice hint of sweetness!
Glad you got to spend time with your friend! :] That food looks amazing, and an epsom salt bath looks like it’d be so relaxing! I actually do have a tub, so maybe I should try it out one o’ these days…
Goldendoodles are so adorable–my friend has two of em’! <3
Yes, do it!!
Sorry about your friend’s dad.. I also enjoy seeing everyone from where I grew up but its too bad it was under such unfortunate circumstances. Looks like you were able to make the best of it though!
Sometimes, it takes unfortunate circumstances to do so, sadly!
wow Golden Doodles are SO cute! I can’t handle it! And that ice cream cone looks ah-mazing! what kind did you get?
I’m in love with them. Too cute to handle!
I think I follow some dog instagrams on my personal account?
It is so hard to face death; I’m thankful for hope beyond the grave, but it is always hard to say ”Goodbye.’ :'(
That fruit pizza looks absolutely AMAZING! ๐ And do you like epsom salts better than doing ice baths after a long run cause that does sound nicer than an ice bath?
Yes, I like them better than ice baths! I actually have just been icing my legs with ice packs on the couch in lieu of ice baths. I’m a baby when it comes to cold water!
Me too! An epsom salts bath sounds so much nicer.
So sorry to hear about you friend’s father, that must have been tough going home, but as you nice at least unfortunate events can bring people back together sometimes.
Sounds like you were able to find some positive nonetheless! I need to get more Epsom salts, so nice to do that after a long or hard run. Hope you have a great weekend!
It’s sad how sometimes it takes those events to bring people together, but it’s life I guess. I’m just grateful for those relationships.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friends dad… I lost my father last year and it’s a really tough time but knowing your friends are there really helps so it was so sweet of you to travel home. I’ve actually never taken an Epsom bath but I’ve floated/sensory deprivation so I’m guessing the effect is similar (PS good job crushing that 20 miler!)
Thanks, Jess. I’m sorry about your father. You’re right – I think having a support system can help so much!
Definitely a fan of some Epsom salt baths! I’m glad you got to get in some good friend/family time on your trip. Have a nice weekend!
Thanks, Sam!
I’m sorry your trip home was because of sad circumstances, though I’m glad you got in a bit of family home time.
I just bought epsom salts last night. I forgot about that healthy little habit I got into last weekend. Needs to make a come back!
Welcome back and hope you have a lovely weekend!
It’s the small things. Epsom baths are truly great ๐
I don’t follow any dog accounts religiously, but if I need a pick me up, I’ll search the hashtag ๐ Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Ellie. Hope you had a great weekend!
I’m so sorry to hear that about your friends father, but glad you were able to see friends and family. Those jeggings are so cute on Ava! <3 I love that wine bottle idea–so cute! I love gifts like that!
Thanks Heather! I think she found it on Etsy – I love cute gifts like that too! So memorable!
I follow a few Corgi IG accounts ๐ I love my Ridley but I still need some fluffy butts in my life! We have a shower rather than a tub, and I kind of miss the opportunity for Espom salt baths… they are far superior to ice baths. Not that I have the option for either, but you know. Have a great weekend!
Despite having a bath, you’d think I’d use it more than I do. Need to get my money’s worth!
