Good Morning!
I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break, ate some great food and enjoyed some great company.
It’s always great to be with the entire family. My siblings and I are so spread out (Charlotte, Chicago, Nashville and Boston) so I love an opportunity for us all to be in one place.
Here are some of my highlights from the Thanksgiving break!
Skeet Shooting
This was definitely a first for me, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would!
The guns were rather heavy and took a little getting used to. We did about 7-8 different obstacles, and it felt so good when you hit the bait aka “clay pigeons.”

Teaming Up For Thanksgiving Dinner
My mom put together an awesome spread and menu. My dad fried a delicious turkey, and we all contributed side dishes. I made my Wild Blueberry Sweet Potato Bread and the Quinoa Apple Crumble for dessert.

After round 2, I had to go for apple pie, pumpkin pie and pumpkin pie ice cream. And look at these cupcakes!
Family Traditions
We have a family tradition of going around the table and saying what we’re thankful for. My mom also found these cute placemats (Crate and Barrel maybe?) so we had fun filling them out!
As you can see, I’m so thankful for my BLT readers!
Seeing my Brother Perform
The following night, we went to an Oyster Roast with a couple hundred other people, where my brother performed. Grabbed some southern food from the buffet, including collards, cornbread muffins, mac and cheese pasta, and barbeque!
We grabbed lunch at Moon River Brewery in Savannah one day. I was craving some greens before our ride back.
Then, we made the four hour drive back to Charlotte. It was a relaxing break. When Tater would let us, we slept in. I got some reading done.
We played family games (heads up had us cracking up!), enjoyed delicious food, told stories and caught up, went for bike rides and runs, and just sat around doing nothing.

Each year I enjoy watching the Thanksgiving Day parade with coffee and some kind of a sweet treat with breakfast.
That’s so neat that you are still really close to your siblings. How often do you see them? And I love the place where you drew what you were thankful for; I’m thankful for you and your blog and your running wisdom. :o) I still want to try some of your recipes.

Love that you guys have traditions. I feel like some of ours have slipped by the wayside over the years as they become less practical. We don’t get long holiday breaks like we used to, we’re not always in the same place, and we’re not always somewhere with a good kitchen. Just kind of how the cookie crumbles I guess.
But one tradition seems to hold true. My mom STILL has no idea how much food to cook.
6 of us last year, so she made 6 pies.
5 of us this year, so she toned it down and only made 3 pies and a double batch of cupcakes. Haha

I really like the placemat idea from your mom. Also, the sweet potato bread sounds amazing! I am moving to a new place without an oven…so I must master the art of baking in a toaster oven =P Yikes…
Thanksgiving for me was spent with the people who fill me up with love. I had a great day 🙂

All sounds sooo lovely – and what a good looking family! Tater would have LOVED all that extra space to run around in! Does she run around in these massive, insanely fast circles like our golden doodle does?

That is so exciting to be able to see your whole family! You guys are a cute bunch. I love the placement idea. I want to start doing activities at Thanksgiving so I can make my own traditions.

Sounds like a perfect way to spend the holiday! Glad you had a good time with your family. Those are fun traditions! We don’t have any Thanksgiving traditions, but we always bake cookies before Christmas. We missed a few years but are planning to get back to it this year!
