Morning, friends! I hope you had a great weekend. We had quite the eventful weekend (lately, most have been quite low key).
Friday night we just stayed in and ordered pizza and wings (my pregnancy faves). Ed was running a half in the morning and I had an interview to do, so we were in bed fairly early.
Saturday
Saturday morning, I headed down to the Matthews Farmer’s Market. I was interviewing one of the vendors there (she’s a bakery owner!) for a local freelance project.
It was fun to explore the market and downtown there, since it was one I hadn’t been to before.
On the way down, I had to stop at Your Mom’s Donuts since it’s been on my bucket list for at least 2 years now!
Luckily, since I was early, I got there before the crowds. I went in to get 3 or 4, but it was only $2.00 more for a half dozen, so the lady upsold me pretty well.
I got a salted caramel, cinnamon sugar with cream cheese buttercream, a goat cheese rosemary with cranberries, a chocolate mousse eclair, milk stout and oatmeal cookie, and a magic cookie bar.
If I had to choose a favorite, I’d say it was the Magic Cookie (middle on the left). BUT, they were all delicious. I usually nibble a few bites off of each one because I clearly have to try all the flavors.
By the time they get to Ed, they aren’t quite as “pretty” anymore. I saved a few whole ones for him to try and we had plenty of leftovers for Sunday morning.
After the Farmer’s Market, I headed for a little run. It had been a few days since I’d run because of the snow and ice, and it felt good to stretch my legs in the sunshine for 4 miles.
Then, I went to a restorative yoga class. I think I’ve mentioned this – but at 30 weeks, I”m really starting to experience some mid back pain. I’ve been taking hot baths and using heating pads at night, but I think yoga will help too.
I haven’t been to a prenatal class yet, but I think I’ll make the switch from regular to prenatal yoga soon.
After yoga, I stopped at the grocery store, and then treated myself to a nice refreshing smoothie bowl at a new spot, Nektar Juice Company.
The lady was kind enough to give me some samples of a few smoothie and juice flavors too! So, I brought some home to Ed and we had some yummy smoothies for the rest of the weekend to snack on.
I did I little work on Saturday afternoon before we headed to a friends’ house for dinner. They were cooking up a whole Italian themed meal!
We had bruschetta, lasagna, meatballs, rice balls and the most amazing homemade sauce.
These were actual authentic Italian recipes passed down from his grandmother from Italy. How special!
For dessert, we made homemade cannoli’s and these thin waffles (I forget the Italian name) with powdered sugar. Delicious!
Sunday
Sunday started earlier than I would have liked, but it started with a pot of coffee and some eggs with leftover donuts.
After church, we took Tater to a local trail for a walk/run. It was 60 degrees and too gorgeous not to be outside!
Here’s a quick bump photo update at 30 weeks (30 week recap coming soon!).
After coming home and showering, we headed to our neighbors to watch the Patriots game. As a Rhode Islander, you bet I’m a huge Pats fan.
No one else at the house was, I was very outnumbered.
But, nonetheless the Patriots won so it was a good day for me! I ate a deconstructed taco salad with some smoked pork. Our neighbor has a smoker and smoked a few varieties of pork that was so delicious.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
Did you watch the NFC/AFC Championships? Any favorites?
Homemade cannoli?! Yuuuummm!
You have totally inspired me to look into making homemade GF ones because I haven’t had a cannoli in SO LONG!
GO PATS!! I grew up in New Hampshire so you bet I’m rooting for them!
Those donuts look awesome! Regarding your back pain, have you considered seeing a chiropractor? I had adjustments every 3 weeks during my pregnancy and had zero back issues. Just a thought!
I am considering it! I have never seen one before, but multiple people have recommended it. I’m gad it’s helped for you and thank you for the recommendation! 🙂
Sarah, I am a Patriots fan too! On to another Super Bowl…yahoo!
Woohoo!
The highlight of my weekend was donuts too! We had this Maple Bacon Cake donut that was literally to die for!
Anything with bacon!
Sounds like a great weekend! Donuts look incredible. Also, 30 Weeks looks GREAT on you!
Come visit for donuts!
It’s interesting the donuts were square instead of the typical circle. Regardless, they look delicious! Also homemade canolis sounds amazing!!
I watched a bit of the football games this weekend while reading. Looks like we’ll be playing you in the Superbowl! And by we I mean I’m cheering on the Eagles since my boyfriend’s dad is a fan. So I feel like it’s in my best interest to cheer them on lol.
My hubby is an Eagles fan – so we have quite the conundrum 🙂
Oh baby so many delicious eats. Those DONUTS. Man, you inspire me to step up my donut game. I need to get on that.
I hope some restorative yoga, and then maybe some prenatal yoga, feel good and help your back. Have you gone in for a prenatal massage?
I’m such a donut gal. I had a prenatal massage a few weeks ago – feels like it’s already time for another. I have yet to try a chiropractor but I think it’s time.
What a fun weekend! My mom used to make those cookies for Christmas, I think they are called pizelles. That smoothie bowl looks amazing!
YES -that sounds right!
