What I Ate Wednesday (+Day in the Life)

I feel like I haven’t done a WIAW post in so long. I purposely took pictures of my meals and snacks yesterday to share with you today.

If I’m being honest, I feel like the blog is shifting a bit. I want to put out content that provides value to you guys, so I’m doing less lifestyle posts. Although if you guys like things like Friday Favorites, WIAW and Day in the Life, I can try to do more of those.

I’m learning that sometimes it’s not realistic for me to get 3 posts up each week. I try to aim for two consistently, and if I get 3 up, then great. But if I don’t, I’m not beating myself up over it. I was putting too much pressure on myself to do that and if I want to provide valuable content, it takes me more time to write those types of posts. Hope that makes sense but would love some feedback!

Tuesday morning actually started really early (like 5:30am early) because Camryn got up. She usually sleeps until 6:30-7ish, so I fed her and tried to get her back down this morning but she was up ready to play. She has started walking (!!) so I know all she thinks about and wants to do is practice her new skills.

So, we were up playing with toys, drinking coffee and watching the Bachelor before 7am. I started this season  on Hulu this weekend because I was sick and it sounded like the right thing to do. Now I’m drawn in to the drama, as usual.

Since she got up so early, she took an early morning nap. My appetite has been a little off with this cold, so I snacked on a chocolate bite with my second cup of coffee (old photo) and caught up on some backend blog stuff.

The boring stuff, like hosting providers, SEO and stuff. Important stuff, but not very glamorous!

We had a late breakfast around 9:15 when Camryn woke up from her morning nap.

I made a loaf of my sweet potato blueberry bread this weekend so I put some in the toaster and added the best peanut butter + siggi’s yogurt on the side.

After breakfast, I headed out for a massage. My mother in law got me a massage package for Christmas and it’s the best thing ever. Since I sit at a computer the majority of the time and I’m breastfeeding, I feel like I’m often hunched over.

I’m really working on stretching out my back and shoulders, but I know I hold a lot of tension there. So, these massages are helping in more ways than one.

After the massage, I headed to a local coffee shop where I had a client meeting in the afternoon. I brought my lunch and had leftovers from the night before, a Hello Fresh meal. It was white jasmine rice, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms and beef.

The leftovers weren’t nearly as pretty as the actual dish, but still delicious.

After my client meeting, I worked on a freelance piece that’s due this week and headed back home. I took a break to pump in the car and snacked on a Wella Bar. It’s a glamorous life, pumping in the car, but keeping it real!

It was a pretty low key day. I tried not to put too much on the schedule since I’m still trying to get over this sickness that Cam gave me, but it did feel good to get out of the house.

When I got home, I started another Hello Fresh meal, a cheesy chicken shephards pie (referral code for $40 off your first order). Camryn really loved this one – the mashed potatoes and peas were her favorite.

We actually haven’t given her peas yet so good to know how much she enjoys them!

Now, I’m writing this Tuesday night with a bowl of Turkey Hill peanut butter chocolate ice cream while catching up on The Bachelor.

Are you into the Bachelor?

Do you like/want more lifestyle type posts or just valuable content?

  1. I prefer the day in the life/personal posts because it allows me to see that balanced eating/rest is a normal part of life and that as I continue to work on my ED recovery that I can go outside of my rigid set of “rules” and still be okay! I do appreciate your content posts as well but probably come back more for the personal day stuff! 🙂

    1. I could have written Lindsay’s reply above, I feel so similar! I love these updates & day-in-the-life posts. They provide more value than you may realise. They definitely help me to see what normal eating looks like, take myself less seriously, and enjoy my life and food more!

  2. I love deeper content posts but also love lifestyle! Keep doing what gives you life!!
I’ve only watched one episode of the bachelor, but kinda want to go through them all now!

  3. Ooh that cheesy Shepherd’s pie sound and looks incredible. <3 And I LOVE just a few posts per week, because I get to really absorb and go through the post and read it. Also the Wella Bars are delicious.

  4. Hi Sarah! I love your WIAW and day-in-the-life posts. Your food inspires me to mix it up and I find the posts so much fun to read. They are the perfect morning-coffee or lunch-break read. Of course your content is up to you, but these are my favorite!

Also, totally understand two posts a week. It is honestly impressive you can make that happen! 🙂

    1. Hi Erin, thanks so much for the feedback 🙂 I’m so glad you like the posts and find them inspiring!

  5. Blegh colds are so frustrating. I hope you kick yours out real soon. Though, they are good at forcing in some relaxation and allowing for any trash tv you feel like binge watching :). I don’t watch the Bachelor, though I’m sure I would be just as suckered in as anyone.

Oh the dilemma. You simply can’t please everyone! And with your blog also being your business and connected to your profession, I’m sure you feel an extra tug-a-war deciding which posts to focus on. So you have to do you and do what you feel the most satisfaction with. I thoroughly respect and enjoy your more research driven posts. They are trustworthy and reliable. That being said, I am not a runner, so I feel more connected to your day in the life kinds of posts where I get to chat with Sarah :). But I will come to those whenever they pop up, whether that be weekly or monthly.

    1. I appreciate you continuing to be a reader and follower, Cora, and coming back to the non-running posts. I think I will continue to include lifestyle posts when I can. I always feel grateful to have you as a reader 🙂 Hope you are doing well! xoxo

  6. I can’t believe Camryn is walking! Peanut butter chocolate ice cream is always a good idea.

I like both lifestyle and more valuable content posts. It’s fun to get to know the blogger through lifestyle but I also refer back to some of the posts that have more valuable content a couple times.
