BBQ roasted chickpeas are the perfect crunchy snack, or easy to throw on salads, stir fries and more. Barbecue chickpeas are full of that barbecue flavor you know and love.
While oven is preheating, rinse chickpeas and spread them on a dish mat or paper towels and pat them dry.
Peel the skins off of the chickpeas. If you give them a light squeeze, the skin will come off, and discard it. Ensure that chickpeas are dried completely.
Spread your chickpeas on a baking sheet and grease with olive oil or cooking spray. Roast for 10 minutes.
Mix your bbq sauce, melted butter maple syrup, garlic powder, and paprika in a small bowl.
Take chickpeas out of the oven and mix the bbq sauce mixture over them evenly. Put chickpeas back in the oven for 12-14 minutes (rotating and turning halfway), or until they are tough but not burnt. They will continue cooking a bit as you take them out.
Let chickpeas cool for 10-15 minutes, and enjoy!
Notes
For a confection oven, preheat to 400. It is important that the chickpeas dry completely. I let mine sit for up to an hour if needed.
