Ingredients

  • 15 oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 ½ Tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • ½ Tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 deg. F
  2. While oven is preheating, rinse chickpeas and spread them on a dish mat or paper towels and pat them dry.
  3. Peel the skins off of the chickpeas. If you give them a light squeeze, the skin will come off, and discard it. Ensure that chickpeas are dried completely.
  4. Spread your chickpeas on a baking sheet and grease with olive oil or cooking spray. Roast for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix your bbq sauce, melted butter maple syrup, garlic powder, and paprika in a small bowl.
  6. Take chickpeas out of the oven and mix the bbq sauce mixture over them evenly. Put chickpeas back in the oven for 12-14 minutes (rotating and turning halfway), or until they are tough but not burnt. They will continue cooking a bit as you take them out.
  7. Let chickpeas cool for 10-15 minutes, and enjoy!

Notes

For a confection oven, preheat to 400.
It is important that the chickpeas dry completely. I let mine sit for up to an hour if needed.
