Avocado Bean Dip is a healthy, fiber-rich appetizer, perfect for tailgating and crowds. Best of all, this avocado vegetable dip comes together quickly and easily.ย
Tailgating is the best part of football season, right? At least I think so. Especially when there are creative, yummy appetizers galore, like this healthy vegetable dip.ย
Usually, though, itโs chicken wings, burgers, hot dogs, casseroles. All things I love, but things that my vegetarian friends canโt eat.
WHY YOU NEED THIS HEALTHY VEGGIE DIP
- Requires only 4 ingredients (plus spices)
- Is high in plant-based protein
- Is delicious and tasty
- Versatile enough to use as a topping for sandwiches, burgers, or stand alone as a dip
Whatโs not to love about a healthy veggie dip recipe that everyone can enjoy?
Since I work in the health and nutrition field, I often try to bring options that everyone can enjoy. I pretty much know the standard selections so I try to think outside the box.
Many tailgate spreads are full of heavy, meaty foods and simple carbohydrates, so having alternative options is important. Who says veggies canโt be a big part of the party?!ย
Plus, what makes this healthy black bean dip recipe so unique is that it also has mashed tortilla chips in it, adding a little extra crunch.ย
SPICY BLACK BEAN DIP MADE WITH VEGGIE BURGERS
We donโt yet have a tv on our porch (maybe some day), but we do congregate outside around the grill while weโre doing the food prep.
Usually, the party happens where ever the food is.
So, weโll be outside socializing and snacking, and once the food is done and hot off the grill, we move it inside for the game. But, food on the grill is my absolute favorite.

That extra flavor you get from the grill is unmistakable. I love adding just a tiny bit more flavor to this healthy black bean dip by throwing these burgers on the grill.ย
The great part about this recipe is that it can completely be made outside if you have a grill, so you donโt have to leave your โhomegatingโ party to make it.
The secret ingredient is MorningStar Farmsยฎ Spicy Black Bean Burgers, each boasting 10 grams of protein. I found mine at my local Walmart in the frozen entree aisle.

While these burgers are great on their own, I chose to get a little more creative in throwing them in this roasted vegetable dip.ย
TIPS FOR MAKING THIS AVOCADO BEAN DIP
This dip for veggies starts off with the typical avocado guacamole base, and then we go rogue to create an avocado vegetable dip.ย
Youโll first start by mashing your avocados, like you would guacamole.
You already know this is going to turn out amazing, right?
I like to add a little bit of sea salt, lime juice and pepper at this stage, but you may have your own preference.
Next, add the garlic powder, paprika, red pepper and cherry tomatoes. If you have special spices you like, add those in as well.

Those are just my typical go toโs, and add an ideal flavor for a dip in my opinion.
Then youโll mash up your cooked black bean burgers and add them to the healthy vegetable dip.
I love that itโs so flavorful and full of protein. Even Ed went up for seconds and thirds.ย

CAN YOU MAKE THIS HEALTHY VEGETABLE DIP WITHOUT THE GRILL?
Of course! If you donโt have a grill, they can be made on the stovetop as well just as easily. Which also means they can be a great option all year round.ย
This black bean avocado dip blows trader joeโs black bean dip out of the water.ย

WHAT ARE THE BEST VEGETABLES FOR DIPPING?
Tortilla chips โ do those count as a veggie?
Carrots, celery, pepper strips and cucumbers are all great! You can really use this as a dipping sauce for roasted vegetables of all caliber.ย
Remember this Cheesy corn dip recipe? That was a hit for a while, until I came up with this option.
We love dips in our house, so I wanted to create a healthy vegetable dip for those tailgates that usually lack them.
