We lived off of this avocado chia pudding last week because I was recipe testing, and I’m still not sick of it!
Chia pudding recipes are honestly so easy to make in advance as a healthy breakfast or to snack on throughout the week!
It has a mild flavor that goes well with anything any time of day – top with fresh fruit, your favorite cereal or granola, and even in smoothies.
It has been a convenient after school snack too! We pile on some coconut flakes and chocolate chips for my kids to enjoy.
Plus, I love that there is avocado and kiwi blended in, as well as chia seeds, to offer extra nutrition. We really love chia seeds for kids!
Since this chia seed avocado pudding takes minutes, it’s easy to let your kids help you make, too!

But make sure you save some for yourselves. This is a great on-the-go breakfast for busy parents.
I like to add more yogurt or protein powder to increase the protein if I’m having it as a full meal.
This is a great avocado recipe for babies! It’s full of nutrients, easy to make and easy to serve in a few different ways.
You can preload it on an ezpz spoon, blend it into a smoothie, or even freeze the leftovers in small ice cubes for smoothie cubes later on!

Why Dietitian Sarah Loves This Chia Pudding
This is my favorite chia pudding recipe for babies because it’s so full of nutrition and can help introduce them to using baby spoons and utensils. It’s a learning experience in a tasty way!
And while you could also serve a baby puree (like blueberry baby food or parsnip puree), this one has so much more depth from the chia seeds, avocado mixture and greek yogurt.
This chia avocado pudding is high in fat, which is critical for growing babies’ and kids’ brains. And a good source of protein and fiber!
Avocado Chia Pudding is a Breakfast Winner
Let me tell you why you’ll love this simple chia pudding recipe with avocado!
- Ready in minutes – This is a huge pro for all of us busy parents, right? Plus the creamy texture is so dreamy!
- Great for baby led weaning – All of the simple ingredients make this a great chia seed pudding for babies or kids, and a great way to introduce avocado and even dairy! You can definitely stick with breastmilk or formula (and even dairy-free yogurt), if you don’t want to use a dairy milk. Put it on a pre-loaded spoon (we love the ezpz baby spoons), and you have a wonderful baby led weaning recipe!
- Easy to make for meal prep – The fact that this recipe is ready in minutes makes it a great breakfast go-to, but you can also make double the recipe in bulk to have a few mornings a week!
- Easy to repurpose – One of my favorite things I tried and discovered with avocado chia pudding is that a little bit goes a long way. You can serve it with cereal, granola or fruit on top, or you can freeze it into little ice cubes for smoothie starters.

Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make avocado chia seed pudding.

- avocado – it must be a ripe avocado so you can “mash” it.
- kiwi
- greek yogurt – I recommend full-fat for babies and kids. Low fat is fine for adults!
- milk of choice – Whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, soy milk – you can use breastmilk or formula, too!
- chia seeds
- vanilla extract
- hemp seeds, optional
- maple syrup, optional
- pinch of salt
Optional additions – If you want to make a chocolate avocado pudding for your sweet tooth, I think this recipe would be delicious with cocoa powder blended in, and cocoa nibs, pistachios or chocolate chips on top!
DID YOU KNOW?
To quickly ripen an avocado in days, place it in a brown paper bag and fold it over. To ripen it even quicker (in hours), tightly wrap your avocado in aluminum foil and place it in a shallow baking dish. Bake at 200 degrees Farenheit (checking every 10 minutes) until it reaches your desired softness.
How to Make Chia Seed Avocado Pudding
First, you’ll need to remove the skin from your avocado and kiwi. Then, remove the pit from the avocado and scoop out the avocado mash.
You can put it into a food processor, high-speed blender or if you have an immersion blender that you want to use, add it to a medium bowl.

Then, add the kiwi and the rest of the ingredients. Blend well and add more sweetener as needed.
If serving chia seed pudding for babies, I would recommend omitting the maple syrup and make sure you’re using full-fat yogurt. Grab my baby led weaning ebook for more baby friendly recipes.

Tips for Success for Chia Avocado Pudding
Here are some tips that I recommend for the best outcome.
- Make sure your avocados are ripe before mashing! See the tips above for how you can ripen your avocados quickly.
- Add a tsp of lemon juice to keep the pretty color in this chia avocado pudding! It can also balance the maple syrup well.
- When serving to babies, I would omit the maple syrup completely as no added sugars is recommended for babies/toddlers under age 2. However, if you want to add 1 tablespoon, their serving size will be so small so it shouldn’t make much of a difference. I usually start with less sweetener and add more as needed after blending and tasting.
- Remember, honey is not recommended for under age 1 due to the risk of botulism in an infant.
- Storage – Store this in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it in an ice cube tray or for future smoothie starters.
